Filmed Here

For nearly 90 years, more than 40 films and countless television and commercial productions have found the locations they needed in Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners region.

From dramatic alpine peaks to colorful towns to desert canyons and ancient cliff dwellings, the region has an unmatched diversity of locations waiting to tell a story.

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the breathtaking river canyon it parallels have featured prominently in many films, from classic Westerns of the 50’s and 60’s to recent thrillers like Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige”.

Film and television productions alike have been attracted to the mountain peaks and valleys showcased from the “San Juan Skyway” and other highways that traverse this geologically unique region. Several of the classic locations used in films are accessible by passenger car, and make a great day trip for western movie fans. How we are funded

As of January 2019, the Four Corners Film Office became a program under the Durango Film Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Previously under the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado, it has been funded by both public and private partners in the Four Corners Region, including government and tourism entities, private businesses and grants. We will continue to follow these avenues for funding.

We’re here because this region recognizes the value and economic impact of production. We have a long legacy of being film-friendly, and have seen many commercials and movies filmed in this region.

Please consider donating and help the Four Corners Film Office in its mission to continue the Four Corners film legacy.  Set the amount you wish to donate (can even be a monthly donation), select 4 Corners Film Office in the option box.  That will tell us where to allocate your donation.

MISSION STATEMENT

Durango Film brings a community together with independent filmmakers for the unique opportunity to experience and discuss global, innovative, and diverse films. We are committed to promoting film production in the Four Corners and serving as a liaison between the production crew and the community, thereby creating positive socio-economic impact.

The current Durango Film Institute Board of Directors oversees the program and an Ambassador’s Council, made up of film industry professionals, offers input on promotion ideas. As of May 2019, we are still in the process of adding council members.
